Appointment: Brewster & Baldwin Advertising Lithograph Publisher: Brewster & Baldwin Carriage Makers Condition: Good Size: 29 x 37.5 inches including the frame
I think it goes without saying that the most well known carriage builder in the United States is Brewster & Co. of New York City. When you study the history of the company, the family dynamics, and the different mergers and acquisitions through the years; Brewster becomes much more interesting.
In 1860 James Benjamin Brewster entered into a partnership with Theodore Baldwin forming the firm of Brewster & Baldwin. I am pleased to offer for sale an original lithograph advertising the firm.
This lithograph illustrates the Celebrated Horses: "Lantern", "Flora Temple", "Lady Palmer", "Flatbush Mare", "Brown Dick", "Lancet", "Prince John", and "New Jersey"
I have learned that (4) different lithographs were made as advertising pieces. One from "Brewster & Baldwin" another advertising "J.B. Brewster" another from "Brewster & Co. of Broome St." and lastly one from "Brewster & Co"
The colors and text are bold. There are a few small tears which can be seen in the pictures, but this does not detract from the piece at all. I had the piece professionally mounted and framed with museum grade glass, and ensured that the lithograph was not glued to the backing.
Don't miss your chance to own a wonderful piece of carriage advertising. You won't be disappointed.
Price: $1400.00
